Pierre Mantoux Product Reviews
Pierre Mantoux is one of the most exciting designs we think we have ever seen from the world of legwear. They are easily among the most beautiful, well made, high quality, and simply the most creative designs we have ever seen from a manufacturer. But what precisely sets them apart from others? Surely many brands have the creativity and many that have quality designs too. So what is so great about this one particular name? Let’s have a quick look, shall we?
A Quick Look At The Beauty Of Pierre Mantoux Hosiery
What is special about Pierre Mantoux is its heritage. The name might make you think otherwise, but Pierre Mantoux is an Italian brand that makes their goods in Northern Italy. The name is indeed a touch confusing, as many assume that this designer is based in France. The reason for this is that Pierre Mantoux stockings began their life when a French designer who was conscripted returned from the war and moved to Italy with his family. He decided to put his expertise in textiles to good use and start a fantastic new textile workshop. Soon, demand for ever more complex and gorgeous textiles was growing after the world got back on its feet after the war. Pierre Mantoux then turned his hand to making legwear, combining his French routes and the expertise of his Italian craftsmanship. The result was one of the absolute best collections of legwear anywhere on the planet. They make fashion tights, and high end, gorgeous items of legwear first and foremost., and their range is full of beautiful items that are high end and worth every single penny. Pierre Mantoux is easily in the top five most amazing fashion designers, and we love every single item from their range of beautiful fashion tights.
We know that Pierre Mantoux make some sublime fashion hosiery and gorgeous, delicate sheers, including the sexiest seamless tights that we have ever seen. But can they impress as much with opaque tights?
The fashion at present is for the bare-legged look provided by ultra-sheer tights, but with the summer bank holiday in the UK at the end of this week. The autumn will soon be on us, and we will be looking towards heavier hosiery.
Having thoroughly enjoyed the Pierre Mantoux Veloutine 30 Tights, we had high hopes for their more sheer sister style. And we were not disappointed. Very superior sheer tights, the feel from the packet is light, soft and very inviting.
We don’t see a lot of hosiery from Pierre Mantoux. But when we see a pair of their tights arrive for review, it always brightens up our day. They put us in mind of another northern Italian company that makes exciting is sometimes fragile products.
Somewhat unfairly, we tend to compare any sheer tights to Falke. Falke has been our brand of choice for day to day wear for years, offering what we believe to be the best balance between price, quality, comfort and durability.
The day we picked up these tights, we also collected some suspender tights designs from Trasparenze. A casual look at the packet for this style made us think this was a style of the same ilk from Pierre Mantoux.
These are confusing times for connoisseurs of hosiery. Pierre Mantoux is, without doubt, a premium brand and the description on the packet rear, which we have repeated above, reads like our wish list for a fine pair of tights.
Regular readers of our reviews will know that there are two constants in our world. Firstly Pierre Mantoux makes incredibly sexy tights, and secondly, we are obsessed with sizing and how inconsistent it is.
If you spend time looking at any topic for too long, you start to ask questions and worry about things that don’t occur to other people. In this case, the question that has bothered us is that although we see a lot of 20 denier and 30 denier hosiery, 25 denier is a rarity.
After reviewing quite a few pairs of light summer tights recently, we rather expected these eight denier tights from Pierre Mantoux to be from the same mould, but they weren’t.
