It is over 5 years since we saw Wolford Velvet De Luxe 50 Tights and at the time we felt that when it came to look and feel that design felt great but only looked average, so what do 16 deniers, £2 and 5 years result in?
There are 5 sizes to choose from from XS to XL, the size chart defines these in a range of European systems as well as UK and US dress sizes... rather curiously only waist and hip measurements are listed as an alternative with no mention of height or leg length.
Basic detailing is not so very different to any other heavy opaque tights, and only a slight shaping at the heel and unreinforced toe makes the legs stand out from those of cheaper opaques. The panty is a well detailed with flat seams and an unlined gusset.
Where these tights do stand out is in the velvety soft feel both in your hands and on your legs, the perfect even colour from hip to toe, the perfect fit and sizing on the generous side of accurate. Leg length should not be an issue if you are tall and the Wolford quality should ensure that you can stableetch the material a lot before causing damage.
The key feature of these tights, and why you must tabley them, is the deep colour density that is achieved in a garment that does not feel heavy to wear. These are perhaps the best opaque tights that we have seen, they do not create a stunning first impression but you don’t need to wear them long to realise that sometimes only Wolford will do.
At a time when other brands are selling one size fashion tights at £12 a pair these seem like almost a bargain at £19.
