Our Review
One of the great things about Wolford, and there are many, is that they maintain their range of sheer tights without any significant change from year to year; fantastic if you have a favourite style and colour but a bit of a nightmare for reviewer as there is never an excuse to revisit one of their classic styles. We finally decided we didn’t need an excuse!
There are of course many makers of seamless tights these days but Wolford can claim this to be a revolutionary design as they were the first to master the technology required to knit a pair of tights in a single piece with no seams.
We last looked at these tights 7 years ago... so what has changed. Well the price is ever so slightly higher and the packet but we will have to wear them to know for sure. Such hardship!
Smooth and soft in the hand these are tights that exude quality. The detailing is is very simple with lightly reinforced toes and just a hint of shaping at the heel, then sheer to the deep ventilated waistband. Something of a signature feature of Wolford Fatal are feint diagonal lines front and rear where the direction of knitting changes.
The size chart has changed over the years to incorporate more national systems and any mention of height has disappeared.... and an odd quirk UK hip and waist measurements are in feet and inches not just inches; the inclusion of dress size is a great improvement though.
For 15 denier tights these feel incredibly strong and a testament to that strength is the fact that one of our ladies is sill wearing the pair we reviewed in 2003 on a regular basis! The strength and stretch provide for a very close fit indeed and if you choose one of the two skin tones, the pale Cosmetic or the darker Gobi, they practically disappear.
It is in the panty of course that these tights are truly special. They follow every curve of your body. Unlike some lesser seamless styles the shaping, sizing and waistband design allow you to wear these tights on your waist rather than on your hips if you so desire. If you are blonde or hairless and match your skin tone then it is only those little lines that make your hosiery visible at all.
This really is the standard against which all other hosiery should be measured. If you never tried a pair then it is time that you did! If you like a slightly heavier tight then Falke Sensation 20 Denier Seamless Tights are the answer.
