Our Review
With so many current fashion tights coming in just one or two sizes we were delighted to see this one from Jonathan Aston come in the full range of three sizes to cope with heights up to 5’10” and hips up to 48”... they mention weight too but we could never be so indelicate as to raise the issue of a lady’s weight.
We hope Jonathan Aston don’t take this the wrong way but our first impression is that these tights have more of a high quality and classy look and feel than we normally expect from them.
Detailing is first rate with a well finished toe seam and no reinforcement in the toe. The striped design then runs uninterrupted all the way to the waistband, the panty features flat seams and a cotton lined gusset.
The stripes are opaque lines knitted on top of a base garment, this is a fine tulle, the description given by MyTights uses the word “mircromesh” which conjures up images of late 70s tights... mirconet would be closer.
Net type hosiery can sometimes feel a little harsh but these tights are commendably soft. The sizing is accurate with plenty of stretch if you are particularly leggy. The gusset and the inclusion of 10% Lycra make for a close and comfortable fit.
Vertical stripes are very slimming and really increase the apparent length of your legs but you need to take time putting these tights on as stripes that are not straight and not vertical look a mess. Take a little time and care and you will be rewarded with a stunning look.
Colour choice is limited to black or military (dark olive green, or olive drab in military terminology). Our preference is for the military shade as it is certainly not drab.
Either shade would combine well with shorts or a miniskirt to give a look to stop traffic.
