Our Review
If you want to start an argument among devotees of hosiery, stockings and tights lovers alike, ask them what they think about suspender tights. Are they the best of both worlds offering the comfort and convenience of tights with the allure of stockings, or are they some sort of Frankenstein’s monster that have features of both but the appeal of neither?
In our experience the answer to that question is not a constant, it depends very much on the individual design, which is why perhaps we enjoy seeing suspender tights coming in for review.
Made in Italy these tights come in four sizes covering heights and weights up to 185 cm (6’1”) and 80 kg (176lb), although maximum weight and height are not accommodated together.
First impressions are good, the legs are unshaped, smooth and soft to the touch and look to have good length. The four “suspender straps” are the same weight as the leg and edged with lace. The waistband is 6 cm deep and all lace.
Suspender tights can be tricky to put on but there are a few basic rules. 1 Remember to put your feet through the waistband, 2 Get the legs stretched to where you want them before tackling the suspender/waistband, 3 Never try to pull them up by the waistband.
The leg part of these tights we like, good matt finish, even colour and well fitting.
The strap parts look good but we did find that the lace cut in where it went around the leg.
The lace waistband really only works if you have a slim and well defined waist, any lumps and bumps and it simple rolls up on itself.
I am afraid our view is that this is a bit of an ugly love child of tights and stockings. Less comfortable than either tights or stockings unless you have a perfect figure and nowhere near as sexy as real stockings.
In Mura’s defence the way they fitted was in line with the size chart, if you are tall you had better be slim... max weight for 6’1”, 132lb or 60 kg. Which incidentally equates to a body mass index of 17.5 which is considered seriously underweight.
