Mary Portas Satin 80 Tights by Charnos

Our Review

Mary & Charnos Satin 80 tights are the heaviest of the styles in the new collection inspired by Mary Portas and marketed by Charnos. The concept is aimed at the more mature woman; but as you can see from our own photo on the review of the Argyle Backseam Tights from the same range they are for real women of any age.

First impressions are very good, these tights feel smooth and strong and simply ooze quality.  Detailed inspection reveals that they are genuinely sheer to waist with no change of knit in the panty, they have flat seams and a cotton lined gusset.  The toes are not reinforced either, the only improvement that could have been added was a shaped heel.maryportas_sm_ml

Sizing is based on a combination height and hip size, the size chart to the left suggests combinations that should fit.   If you are average height with 34”-38” hips either size should fit.

Our own tests suggest that the sizing is more generous than that with the large size easily coping with 42” hips and a leggy 6’0” of height.

There are five colours available, all ideal for the season and yet suitable to keep wearing as long as the tights survive.  Black, Intense Indigo, Pale Grey, Rich Red and Sultry Sage (green!) are the choices available.  The rich red of our test pair was a delight, it had just a hint of purple.  The warm rich colour is set off perfectly by the satin finish which is as pleasing to the touch as to the eye.

Fit is very good indeed, colour is deep and perfectly even; warm and comfortable too there is nothing bad we can say about these tights.

Buy a pair in each colour is our suggestion, they will keep you feeling warm and looking good right through this Autumn and from the feel of them still be in your drawer next Autumn
