Our Review
These tights are the replacement for the Marks and Spencer Look on Legs Bare Tights that replaced the earlier version of these tights below.
Although sold under the same name as the earlier style it is clear from the fibre mix and the addition of the “cooling bubbles” that these are very different tights. Having polyurethane in the blend puts them in the main stream of tights for summer.
First impressions are not great, these look like very ordinary tights. Straight legs with sandal toes attached to a heavier boxer style brief. The brief is well finished but the seams are not flat, there is a cotton gusset, essential in summer hosiery. The label reads “Marks & Spencer Cooling Bare Tight”.
These tights look small, and at first it seems that they will not stretch that much. But go carefully and slowly and they will stretch, even to slightly larger than the size chart suggests.
The legs look and feel great with only a slight sparkle in some light giving away that fact that you don’t have perfect tanned skin but are in fact wearing tights.
The brief is far less attractive. On the plus size it is comfortable and keeps everything in place but it is so heavy in comparison to the legs as to be a disappointment.
The cooling effect becomes evident after a few minutes wear and does seem to work . Well worth buying for summer.

Update 13 June 2008
Readers of the Mail on Sunday and the Daily Mail this week will have seen two articles on these “new” miracle cooling tights. So as you can see from our review date, if you want up to the minute hosiery reviews come here, if you want last year’s products warmed over look in the mainstream media!
Enough of our crowing. We are of course delighted that the UK’s best selling newspapers dedicated so many column inches to the subject of hosiery, sheer summer hosiery at that. Both journalists had similar opinions, the look on the leg is very nearly bare, the cooling technology works and the colouring of the “natural tan” is somewhat pale; more early spring tan than high summer tan.
Choose your colour carefully and these tights will look good and make you feel cooler. Of course there are other summer tights on the market, and if you don’t buy these from M&S you really should try one of the other styles we have reviewed. So much nicer than bare legs.
