September is here and pretty soon we will need our tights to not just look good but to keep us warm too, although hopefully is will be a while yet before we need 100 denier wooly tights. 

Inevitably with so much wool in the mix the feel of these tights is very much like socks, the nylon and Lycra serving only to add strength, durability and stretch to the wool. 

In terms of construction these are made like any other good quality opaque tight.  The toe has a run stop detail and the legs are unshaped; the panty is finished with flat seams and an unlined gusset.

The feel in the hand is reasonably soft ... until you put your and inside and you where the texture is distinctly rough. Fortunately the roughness is not evident once you have the material stretched over your leg. 

There are three sizes, we tested the largest which is x-tall.  At first we thought there had been a mistake in the packaging as these supposedly extra long tights looked extremely short.  We need not have worried, there is far more stretch than we would have expected from wool and the sizing is spot on.  One word of warning though, the more you stretch these tights the more they look like wool and the less they look like regular opaque tights.   As with any natural fibre there is some variation in thickness so the colour is not perfectly even, particularly when the tights are stretched a lot.

Warm and comfortable these are extremely practical tights and they feel strong enough to last until the Spring.  Unless you really like that slightly country texture look the best partners for these tights may be a pair of boots and a knee length skirt.
