Our Review

The title of one of the Jonathan Aston Collections for Autumn/Winter 2011 is “On Show”, and the show is from Las Vegas with this the signature style and others being named after casino favourites such as Blackjack, Poker and Roulette.

We are delighted to see that the collection continues the sheer theme of the spring and summer but with the addition of highly fashionable motifs.

Three sizes to fit up to 182cm (5’10” according to JA but 6’0” by our calculation), 79 kg and 120 cm hips.  As ever we tested the largest size and we opted for nude with a black seam as it is the only colour available.

A Jonathan Aston signature motif on the finger band was the first thing to catch our attention... ever so classy!.   Completely sheer to waist with flat seams and a lined gusset it is clear that not all the money was spent on design, this is quality hosiery.  The unshaped leg was a tiny disappointment.

Sizing is more generous than the size chart suggests, there is enough length to fit a leggy 6’0”.  Fit is very good too.  The seam was easy to set straight, the key is setting the reinforced toe correctly and ensuring the seam is stretched along the middle of your foot and heel, get this right and it will go arrow straight up your calf.  The seam is quite wide, dark and very well defined.  The motif at the top of the seam is strategically placed so that you can have it fully or partially on view.

The nude shade is quite deep and has more than a hint of orange to it but this upfront shade of “nude” is very much in keeping with the subtle understatement of Las Vegas.

Perfect even colour, smooth to the touch, comfortable and bang up to date with current trends... a style to be seen in.

Only one little grumble... at full stretch that signature motif looks a bit untidy.
