Our Review
Sheer tights with spots are one of those ideas that comes around from time to time, one member of our team had a flashback to a blue pair circa 1980 but we put that down to an overly spicy lunch!
These are 20 denier tights which you can buy in three sizes and just one colour, black. The sizes are described as 2 Small, 3 Medium and 4 Large with both height and hip sized increasing with each size. Maximum height is suggested as 176 cm (5’9”) which is not particularly generous.
All sizes share the same detailing, sheer to waist with straight unshaped legs and an invisibly reinforced sandal toe. The panty is T-band styled and finished with flat seams and a lined gusset.
The recipe for the fibre is 85/15 Nylon/Lycra which is the standard mix for Polish or Polish/Italian tights. Gabriella is a Polish brand but the packet only says “made in EU” and many other brands manufacture in Italy.
Sizing was a bit of a concern because our test pair came in size 3 and our usual model is considerably taller than 170cm (5’7”) and leggy with it... to our surprise the tights had no problem stretching to fit and were comfortable too. Fit was absolutely perfect once we found a model the right size, as you can see below.
Good even colour, emphasised by the spot pattern, continues the good impressions. The spot pattern is not too dense and as helps to distract the eye from any skin imperfections the sheer 20 denier material does not conceal. Gabriella have taken an old idea, updated it by reducing the spot density and produced an up to the minute look.
Our only criticism is a very minor one, the spots were rather elongated, even when massively over-stretched lengthways the distortion was horizontal (around the leg) and in that dimension the size was correct.
A nice change from plain sheer hosiery. well designed and nicely made.
