Our Review
One of the key trends in hosiery at present is “tattoo” motifs on sheer tights. Here Gabriella have livened up a 20 denier sheer by the addition of a design on the side of the lower leg. The design is abstract but made us think of music as it seems to draw on the treble clef for design inspiration.
We put of a lot of store in first impressions, in terms of both look and feel but these are the first tights to make us hear music. The look and feel are pretty good too!
Sheer to waist with flat seams and just a narrow reinforced strip either side of the panty seam and a lined gusset, just what we want in a pair of tights. The legs are unshaped and finished with a reinforced toe detail that has a run stop to prevent holes in the toes becoming ladders in the legs.
There is a definite feel of quality to these tights, close to but not quite on a par with the established quality brands.
Sizing is certainly more generous than the size chart suggests both in terms of height and hip sizing, you could probably add 10% to both if you need to. Fit is very good too and these are certainly comfortable tights.
Colour density is good and even and the tattoo motif really adds a touch of something special; it managed to be both eye-catching and subtle at the same time.
The problem with our test pair was two knitting faults on one leg. Not only did this mar the look of the tights but it makes it highly likely that a ladder will develop in time. Clearly Gabriella can design and make some great hosiery, and this style is an example of that, but they need to pay more attention to quality control.
That said £5.99 is not a lot of money to pay for tights these days and that motif is lovely
